Rebecca is a Principal Scientist at Recombia Biosciences. Prior to joining Recombia, she spent a total of 10 years at Lygos, Zymergen, and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (NNF-CFB), where she led the development of production strains for a wide range of chemical products in yeasts and bacteria. As a postdoc/researcher at NNF-CFB, she also conducted systems biology and adaptive laboratory evolution studies to investigate chemical and general stress tolerance in E. coli. Rebecca earned her BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Maryland, Baltimore County, MS in Chemical Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park, and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied free fatty acid production and its physiological impacts and export mechanisms in E. coli.
